Factory rubber is chosen for quiet and comfort, so it squashes under braking, acceleration, and cornering and lets the arm move more than it should. A firmer replacement keeps the arm where it belongs, which steadies the alignment and gives the car a more consistent feel. The polyurethane used here deflects much less than the original rubber under the same load.
